Accessibility Statement
This website is committed to providing a user-friendly experience for all users, including those with disabilities. It has been built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.
Compliance Level
We have met WCAG 2.2 Level A compliance. In addition, we have attempted to meet several success criteria from Level AA. Some Level AAA criteria were not reasonably practicable to implement due to time constraints, and these are noted below.
Level A Compliance – Fully Met
- 1.1.1 Non-text Content
- All meaningful images include descriptive
altattributes (e.g., the building photo on index.html). - 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
- Semantic HTML (e.g.,
<nav>,<main>,<footer>) is used throughout. - 2.1.1 Keyboard
- All functionality, including navigation and links, is accessible via keyboard (Tab and Shift+Tab).
- 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
- Navigation appears before main content on every page, allowing quick access to key sections.
- 3.1.1 Language of Page
- The
lang="en"attribute is declared in the HTML tag. - 4.1.1 Parsing
- All pages validate correctly via the W3C HTML Validator.
Level AA – Partially Met
- 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
- Text color and background combinations maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- 1.4.4 Resize Text
- Text remains readable and layout intact when zoomed up to 200% in modern browsers.
- 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
- All links have descriptive text (e.g., navigation labels "Home", "Details", "Accessibility").
- 3.1.2 Language of Parts
- Only English is used, so no additional language markers are needed.
- Unmet: 1.2.5 Audio Description (Pre-recorded)
- This site contains no audio or video content, so this criterion is not applicable.
Level AAA – Not Attempted or Not Reasonably Practicable
- 1.2.6 Sign Language (Pre-recorded)
- No video content is included on this site. Implementing sign language interpretation would require additional resources and is not feasible within the scope of this assignment.
- 2.2.6 Timeouts
- No user timeouts are implemented, so this criterion is not applicable.
- 1.4.6 Contrast (Enhanced)
- While we have ensured minimum contrast, enhanced 7:1 contrast ratios were not targeted due to limited styling scope.
Known Limitations
Some accessibility features such as screen reader ARIA landmarks, detailed focus indicators, or form validation messages are not included due to the limited technical scope and time constraints of this project.
